How do I get help with Blackboard?

1776 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Aug 02, 2023

The library does not maintain Blackboard.

Try logging in directly to Blackboard through https://elearning.kctcs.edu/

If you have trouble logging into Blackboard, you can reset your ECTC password through the User Account Center and try again. If that does not work, delete your cookies and cache from your internet browser or try logging in through a different browser. Exit out of any ECTC application (MyPath, Blackboard, etc) before deleting cookies and cache.

If you still encounter problems, contact Go KCTCS Student Service Center available online 24/7/365 or call (855)746-3282.

If you still have problems, call the Blackboard Support Center technical support: (317) 333-7300.

If you can login, but need assistance navigating Bb, contact our Online IT help

If you are trying to access a library database and encounter an error, try clearing your cache or even using a different browser. Learn how to clear your cache on any device. Alternatively, if you are using Chrome or Firefox, here is a PowerPoint with detailed directions on how to clear your cache.

You can also use a private browsing window to access databases:

  • Chrome > Incognito window

  • Firefox > Private window

  • Edge/IE > InPrivate window

If the problem persists, please reach out to us through chat or our Ask a Librarian form.

What can librarians help me with?

1478 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Apr 30, 2024

Librarians are experts in suggesting where to search, identifying appropriate keywords, and navigating search results. In short, we can help you complete research assignments. Librarians can help you identify when you need to talk to your professor for clarification about an assignment. It's up to you to do searches and select the resources you need to complete your assignments.

Librarians can help you:

  • Pick a research topic
  • Narrow down (or broaden) a topic
  • Search the library databases or internet to find credible sources
  • Find the best keywords and phrases to type in
  • Evaluate the sources you find
  • Cite those sources

There are several ways you can ask for help:

Set up a research appointment by emailing ECTCLibrary@kctcs.edu or calling 270-706-8843. Research appointments can be done in person or virtually through email, Microsoft Teams, or Blackboard Collaborate.

We are always happy to help you get started on your projects and to teach you the tricks and tools to make it easier!

How much does it cost to print?

1308 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Aug 09, 2023

Current students receive a printing account credit with a beginning balance of $15 each semester. Printouts and copies are .10 per side B&W & .25 per side color. The library prints 2-sided by default, so a single page, double-sided printout costs .20. Printing costs are deducted automatically. Students may add money to their accounts at the Business Office (RPC room 102).

Community users receive 5 B&W prints at no cost. There is no way to purchase additional prints at this time.

You may return items to the person at the library desk or use our 24/7 outside book drop located by the doors that face the Student Center. Laptops and Library of Things items must be returned to a staff member at the desk.

Textbooks used in your classes should be returned to the bookstore located in the RPC.

Does the Library have the textbook for my class?

1206 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Aug 02, 2023

The library does not carry textbooks for your courses. You can purchase/rent your textbook at the ECTC Campus Bookstore. Click on the link for "Textbooks" located under the yellow KY picture.

Your course might have an eTextbook that is included in the cost of your course and is available through Blackboard. Check your syllabus for information about your course materials.

The library does have a small collection of textbooks on "course reserve." These are items your professor placed in the library for students to use either in the library or for 3 days. Your instructor will state in the syllabus if they have placed an item "on reserve."

1180 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Aug 17, 2021

When you select the print, a small pop-up window should appear on the computer screen or in your bottom toolbar. This window shows how much printing money you have remaining in your student account. It will also tell you how much will be deducted when you print the current job. Click on "Accept" if you wish to continue.

Go to one of the printers and use the touch screen to enter your login and password. This will be the same thing you used to log into the computer and for Blackboard and email.

Select print and highlight your jobs and press the green print button.

Logoff with the door & arrow button in the upper right corner when finished.

To scan or make photocopies, you will follow the same log-in steps and select either copy or scan.
